“Good painting is like good cooking; it can be tasted, but not explained.” Maurice de Vlaminck
so that means I shouldn’t say anything here?
A response isn’t necessarily an attempted ‘explanation’. For some reason I’m reminded of the Japanese word ‘aji’ which means ‘taste’. I used to play a Japanese board game called Go. Often a stone or group of stones would leave ‘aji’ which was a vague influence on other stones and future moves. Often you couldn’t explain why. It was just aji.
Here is a link about aji: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Go_terms#Aji
I like the sound of aji. Perhaps the Japanese version of ‘je ne cést qua’? (not sure of spelling there).
