No 151 Gian Lorenzo Bernini

Today I went to one of Tom Smith’s Art History sessions. Tom was looking at Baroque and specifically the work of Bernini, a sculptor which I’d come across but which I’d dismissed as not my cup of tea. However Tom opened my eyes to some of his superb work. Just look at the hand and thigh above – in cold, hard marble!

Here is one of my shots of a Bernini statue on Ponte Sant’Angelo that I took on our cruise stop in Rome earlier this year:
