It’s more of an education quote than an art quote but as Albers was an art teacher I thought it would still fit. I also liked this quote: “Instead of art I have taught philosophy. Though technique for me is a big word, I never have taught how to paint. All my doing was to make people to see.”
My grandmother had an art class from him.
I’d be interested to know what he was like as a teacher. Some of his quotes seem to be in very broken English and I picture him with a very strong German accent with the students trying to understand him.
Unfortunately I never found out anything about her experience with him. She died back in 1996 on the cusp of 104, prior to my push into becoming an artist.
